Just a to preface, this comment is from the first day this was posted, so anything I call out is hopefully fixed in the future. I'll start by saying THIS IS GREAT! Lots of little bugs but overall a very fun game.

  • When saving/closing/reloading the game, all my settlements reset back to campfires. This didn't seem to actually cause any issues with placing buildings or pop counts, but it was a little weird.

  • UI in general needs some fixes, like when values get too high the Faith underlays the exp bar. In general it was ok, I think the Godly Powers should just stay in the same order for every game, instead of appending when new powers are unlocked, makes it more cohesive I think. Not sure if Godly Inspirations work the same way?
  • Also when saving/quitting/reloading, the settlement list on the left of the world view reversed? Perfectly usable just kinda annoying.
  • Prestige: Very cool, expands replayability, doesn't apply to the new game? Unless I missed something you prestige, go into your settlement and then unlock prestige perks which don't get applied until you prestige AGAIN! I think the prestige screen should immediately have you pick perks, THEN start the new game.
  • On a new prestige game, so not quitting then restarting, new settlements don't show up on the world map for me at least. Tested this twice. They do however appear on saving/quitting/reloading.
  • One more prestige thing, I think skip the tutorial for prestige runs, maybe just give the player the exp as a prestige bonus, or let them earn the exp normally.
  • Workplaces, I know they say WOKR IN PROGRESS but they never appeared as an option for me at all, if they're not in the game at all I'd take them out of the tech tree, just my opinion.
  • It would be really cool if we could direct Heroes to a specific spot for a new settlement, I know it's an idle game but they have to be manually made/settlements manually made, so it feels more fair to direct them somewhere to build instead of babysitting them until they're in a decent spot.

Overall I love this! Great job so far, its really good.

Thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate the bug reports! The save/load system is pretty janky right now as it is the last thing I added before publicly posting the prototype. These issues should be ironed out in the near future.

There is definitely something here. I think I spent eight straight hours playing this with the majority staring at the screen despite it being an idler that was meant to be running in the background, but that's kind of a me problem. Watching my worshippers work was rather satisfying. (If a bit frustrating since they're a bit like herding cats, though I feel that is also part of the charm.)

Said this on Reddit, but I took some notes and want to share my feedback. Where would be the best place to share it?

Thank you for playing! Glad that you enjoyed it, it's definitely a work in progress and rough around the edges still. I'd love to read your notes and feedback, sharing it as an itch.io comment would be great!

Okay, let me just work through the notes I had

-Shelters gained from ancient Ruins don't start built on prestige, or at least partially so. (Pretty sure I upgraded it before I prestiged.)

-Manifest destiny is a pretty problematic name to use for an upgrade it was used as an excuse to kill off native americans by settlers.

-There are also problems telling which worshipper is selected for what godly spell. The yellowed name in the name sidebar and the worshipper in the bottom central panel can be different. Conjure spirit is more consistant  since I know I have to click on the characteron the screen first. (Though I haven't done it with larger populations since they can defend themselves.) Making a specific hero only works when there is a few like conjured spirits. On larger populations it is kind of random. They don't always work on units focused on.

- Hero teleport back to their towns upon save reload.

- Town centers revert back to campfires upon save reloads.

- Buildings shifted around on save reload causing them to overlap and stopping a town center from being upgraded in one case. (See below.)

- Sometimes focus was where it shouldn't have been (Stuck on a unit when unfocused/focused on another unit.)

These next few are more personal preferences, but I feel those are important in feedback so share them as well.

- Maybe give a little more control over units? I know it is part of the appeal but it is frustrating when there is only a few pieces left and your followers decide cutting a tree when you have 1000 wood. Maybe you could use Faith to guide them? Buildings can also be placed very inconveniently and more control over where they are placed might work better.

- Faith production/ max increases not useful in endgame. Maybe passive consumers of faith or something?

- Godly focus disappears building manager. Why? Why does it also take control over the camera for mechanical benefits. There may be good answers to these questions but they don't feel apparent yet.

- Stats for characters can't be seen from what I know.

I think that's all for now. Like I said, I was enraptured by this prototype despite the jank, even more so than a lot of finished games. You should definitely keep at it. If you want more feedback, to discuss some more things, or even an extra pair of hand, let me know! I'm excited to see this go places and I am happy to help.

Absolutely fantastic game. Very solid foundation for a proper game, I played until I crashed the game lol.

I was told invalid upload

Thanks for letting me know. I think this might actually be an itch.io issue as they are reporting some issues on down detector. I just tested both uploads and they seem to work fine, were you using Windows or Linux?

Windows, or rather attempting too.
